ESI provides flood risk assessment, surface water drainage and hydrological assessment services as part of a portfolio of environmental services. Reports are prepared for all types and scales of development throughout the UK where flood risk or surface water drainage information is requested by the Local Authority and Environment Agency. Assessment is undertaken of flood risk from all sources including fluvial, coastal, pluvial and groundwater. Development and planning support can include Sur 1 and Sur 2 code reports in support of sustainable homes assessments.
Understanding the hydrology is key to long-term effective surface water management and ESI has developed efficient and targeted methods of assessing the impact of groundwater abstraction on surface water ecology (hydro-ecology) through detailed low flow studies at very localised and broader catchment scales.
